Sam McLeod - "Soulmate" EP

The Sam McLeod Soulmate ep is a collection of love songs created over the last ten years and inspired by his relationship and marriage to Tink. The ep’s central question is: Have you ever burned a CD or created a playlist for someone you care about? The goal of this project is to capture the hilarity, tenderness, and truth of love in the form of a CD that will be published around Valentine’s Day. ‘You Me & Everything’ will be released on February 11th in Formula Indie.

Sam McLeod collects a collection of love songs he’s composed over the last decade, with his “Soulmate” EP. He goes from the beginning of a relationship to getting married and starting a family, using his own relationships and marriage as the foundation of the tracks. He is able to capture the truth of love, the tenderness of intimate moments, and the silly times shared with a loved one through the tracks.

The EP begins with the song ‘Tiny/Little,’ which he wrote for his wife when he was 16 and wanted to ask her out. The beats’ slow taps softly lead you into the music, which gains an ambient overlayer spreading out toward the horizon. This song has an innocent softness to it that comes through in the arrangement and words. The voices, which reach through a delicate cloudscape to tenderly catch your attention, are as misty as the ambient tones. In the lyrics, there is a quiet query that captures the spirit of the beginning of a relationship and is intertwined into all of the reasons why you are pulled to someone.

SAM MCLEOD, A NASHVILLE NATIVE, HAS BEEN SINGING SINCE HE WAS A LITTLE BOY IN SMYRNA, TENNESSEE. HIS CHILDHOOD WAS SPENT COVERING RADIOHEAD SONGS AND WRITING SAD LOVE SONGS. HE HAS A WELL-DEVELOPED ALTO TENOR RANGE AND A UNIQUE MELODIC STYLE IN SONGWRITING AS A SINGER-SONGWRITER. HIS DEBUT EP “INTRODUCTION TO DREAMING” (AN ALTERNATIVE-ROCK PROJECT) WAS RELEASED IN 2015, AND IT WAS A COLLECTION OF SONGS ABOUT HIS CHILDHOOD AND THE GROWING PAINS OF LIFE.
