This band is made up of three members, Winchester 7, vocalist, ukulele, Phil Voorhees bass guitarist, and Jack Kane, drummer. Each band member has an imagined identity and duty and thus different things outside the band with each member living in distant locations. Jack is based in the UK, Winchester lives in Atlanta and Phil is from the Netherlands. Winchester 7 serves as the band’s leader.
The band made up of Winchester 7 and The Runners completely surprised their fans with something new and unusual. Instead of using guitar to charge their unique brand of rock music as they are better known, the trio is included on their Catacomb Songs (Original EP), with seven ukulele rock songs. They released this project on 17th December 2021 and it is a 7 track album with a bonus track. The title of the songs is as follows in order of sequence. ‘Dead Celebrities and New Beginnings’ is the lead song followed by ‘The Song That You Sing’, ‘Up On the 13th Floor’, ‘Ever Said’, ‘Riding High Again’, ‘Arcade Days’, ‘Beneath the Moon and the Stars (Extended Mix)’; and lastly, ‘Head-On’, a Jesus and Mary Chain cover. Though the “Catacomb Songs” has a funny side when you are done listening, you would may well find yourself moved by its melodies and poetic lyrics. The songs on the EP sound extremely pleasing to the ear.
The opening track, ‘Dead Celebrities and New Beginnings, starts with a fifteen-second intro that urges anyone to listen to the whole ep. An electric ukulele delivers the right amount of diversity that this song, in particular, engages the listener to listen from start to finish. Since the open track attracts the attention of the audience, the entire ep will be so much fire to listen to especially for those who appreciate music.
