Kevin Rieth is an emerging artist from San Diego in the United States. Kevin is naturally addicted to music and has fun whiles writing songs. He has loved the Beatles from when he was just 3 years old and learned how to play trumpet in his 5th grade which eventually inspired him to try out other instruments. Finally, Kevin is ready to release “When I Sleep”, a single on his debut album known as ‘Up & Up’. An album he came up with when he got heartbroken. He expressed his anguishes on the album. Kevin aims at releasing the single on 14th January 2022. Though Keven went solo on this song, he forms a band with Aaron Russo, a drummer, Rob Hanzlik, and Gage Markey both lead guitarists, and lastly Jake Matthew Rivers who handles the cello. Rob, Gage, and Jake are personal friends while Kevin met with Aaron on Craigslist to form the Chicago-based band, the Donderos in 2018.
“When I Sleep” is a single and the whole of the album it has been featured on was all self-recorded by the band in a custom DIY studio space in San Diego, CA. The three friends, Jake, Rob, and Gage collaborated with Kevin on the song virtually whiles Aaron was also able to finish with the drums of the eight-song album in a day. “When I Sleep” is a song that specifically talks about the bitterness and concern involving police brutality and the agitation of politics in the United States. As Jeff is trying hard out to have enough rest as narrated in the song, the questioning of what am I doing to make the situation better also hits. The narrator talks about why this is happening and how to put an end to this violence. All these come to the narrator’s mind when he is put to sleep. This refreshes his mind and makes him think deeper.
The song together with the album was mixed by Dan Molad (Lucius, Coco, CHIMNEY) and mastered by Jennifer Munson at Taloowa Corporation.”When I Sleep” will be available on 14th of this month so stay tuned and enjoy the first song on the album already released.
