Katanak is an Australian musician and songwriter whose real name is Dylan Cattanach. The name Katanak which sounds a little bit similar to his real name came as a result many couldn’t pronounce or spell his real name.
Katanak started in early 2019 as a performing band after my previous band had broken up. Katanak currently loves writing super catchy Pop, Rock and Brit-pop songs so for the moment that’s what really is taking his fancy. Katanak his first project was where he really tried to hone his skills and focus on getting good at a couple of genres. In 2014 re was requested to write a song for the school fundraising having only sound engineering experience.
Talking with MrrrDaisy, this is what he had to say about what motivates him “For a while, I was feeling lost and didn’t have anything to push me further as an artist. About a year ago I started taking professional singing lessons so that I can reach my full potential as a vocalist and that has really given me a burning drive and fire to be better than I was yesterday. Singing is genuinely my favourite instrument and being able to sing correctly and fully is still something I’m trying to attain. I’ve loved and hated every single minute of learning.”
In 2020 Katanak won The People’s Choice Award for The QUBE Effect and was also a semi-finalist in the International Songwriting Competition 2020. He enjoys sports and likes playing as a winger for Rugby Union. As life has got busier he only has time to focus on his full-time job and music.
