Wakefield-based rapper, producer and multi-instrumentalist Atomic Baby shares his new single, “Opium.” Pairing sparse, bubbling synth-pop beats with Atomic’s signature saccharine vocals, “Opium” is the ultimate dreamy summer Hip hop tune. With his much-anticipated album on the horizon, this new single continues his impressive streak of irresistible electro-pop anthems.
In a statement about “Opium,” Atomic Baby said: “This is the third single from my debut album “Manhunt” based off the concept of the video game made by Rockstar Games in 2003. This is my version of the world in Carcer City.
This song is about letting go of the past. No matter how bad you view yourself or the actions you take, you can’t always live with the growing weight of dread dragging you down. So try the best thing to do and move on. Everyone’s way of doing it is different so what’s the worst that could happen?”
Constantly exploring new musical and visual dimensions, Atomic Baby has emerged as an avant-garde luminary in the left-of-center hip pop space. Heading into the release of his next album “Manhunt” — he has taken a propulsive leap with his songwriting, opening up about his most private battles and innermost thoughts. Instead of succumbing to self-indulgence and pity, he wields his hardships as a portal to empower and transform. The magic of his music exists in the layered meaning of each of his songs – beneath the infectious, rhythmic production lay inspiring and heartfelt life lessons. There is something new to discover with every listen.
